How to Catch Ancient Kraken in Fisch
The Ancient Kraken is the primal ancestor of the regular Kraken, a colossal cephalopod that only surfaces during Poseidon's Wrath events. At 100,000-525,000 kg, it dwarfs nearly every other catch in the game. This Secret-tier beast has a brutal 1/567 catch rate and applies a locked -95% progress speed penalty.

Pro Catching Strategy
Ancient Kraken only spawns during Ancient Kraken Hunts, which occur when Poseidon's Wrath is active during a Kraken Hunt. Use a Poseidon's Wrath Totem (1,500,000 C$ from Poseidon's Room) after the Kraken Hunt starts to guarantee the transformation. The hunt lasts only 6 minutes before reverting to a normal Kraken Hunt. Truffle Worm bait is required. Night only.
The Ancient Kraken has a 14% chance per frame to "fling" your fishing bar, locking your input for 1.4 seconds and draining 8% progress. Bring maximum resilience gear.
Players hear one of four ominous exclamations when hooking the Ancient Kraken: "THE ANCIENT ONE!", "PRIMAL DARKNESS!", "BEYOND REALITY!", or "THE END COMES!"
Hunting Strategy
Step 1: Complete all four Clock Wheel puzzles in Atlantis to unlock the Kraken Pool. Step 2: Complete the Poseidon Trial Puzzle to access Poseidon's Room and buy the Poseidon's Wrath Totem for 1,500,000 C$. Step 3: Wait for a natural Kraken Hunt to start (announced server-wide). Step 4: Immediately use your Poseidon's Wrath Totem to transform it into an Ancient Kraken Hunt. Step 5: You have exactly 6 minutes before the hunt ends. The regular Kraken can still spawn alongside the Ancient variant, so not every catch is guaranteed to be the Ancient version.
Spawn Mechanics
The Ancient Kraken has a base catch rate of 0.5% (1/200). During Ancient Kraken Hunts specifically, the catch rate is approximately 1/567. The fish can only be lured by one player at a time - if someone else is fighting it, you cannot hook it until they finish. During admin events like MADNESS (3%), MAYHEM (4%), or Secret Storm (5%), Ancient Krakens can spawn without needing the totem. Natural Poseidon's Wrath events are rare but do occur, triggering the Ancient Kraken Hunt automatically.
Recommended Setup
Ethereal Prism Rod, Seraphic Rod, or Rod of The Forgotten Fang for maximum resilience. Challenger's Rod is also excellent. Avoid low-resilience rods entirely.
Mystical (+45% resilience) is ideal. Resilient (+35% resilience) works as a budget option. The -95% progress penalty combined with fling attacks makes resilience mandatory.
Truffle Worm is the only bait that works. Stock up before attempting - each hunt attempt consumes bait. Get Truffle Worms from The Depths.
Poseidon's Wrath Totem (1,500,000 C$) guarantees the Ancient Kraken Hunt transformation. Aurora Totem can help with catch rate but won't spawn the Ancient variant.
Value Analysis
At $25,000/kg base price with a weight range of 100,000-525,000 kg, a single Ancient Kraken catch yields between 2.5B and 13.1B C$ before mutations. The average catch at 175,000 kg brings roughly 4.4B C$. With Tryhard mutation (10x multiplier), a max-weight Ancient Kraken can exceed 130B C$. Despite the extreme difficulty, the economics make this one of the most profitable fish per catch in Fisch. The 22,000 XP reward is also substantial.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- ✗Using the Poseidon's Wrath Totem BEFORE the Kraken Hunt starts - it must be used during an active hunt to transform it
- ✗Attempting the fight with a low-resilience rod - the -95% penalty makes this nearly impossible without proper gear
- ✗Not stocking enough Truffle Worms - each failed attempt consumes bait
- ✗Waiting too long after the hunt transforms - you only have 6 minutes before it reverts
- ✗Expecting guaranteed Ancient Kraken catches - regular Krakens can still spawn during Ancient Hunts

Lore & Background
The Ancient Kraken represents the oldest and most powerful cephalopod in Fisch mythology. Unlike its descendant, the regular Kraken, this creature exists beyond the normal timeline - summoned only when Poseidon himself is angered. Ancient sailors spoke of "the one before the Kraken" in hushed tones, claiming it could pull entire islands beneath the waves. The Clock Wheel puzzles throughout Atlantis were allegedly designed to keep this creature contained.
